Teenager Arrested After Threatening Phone Calls Prompt Lockdowns at Harrison Central High

    2024-09-05

According to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, the calls, which were received around noon, led the school to implement a soft lockdown, restricting all entry and exit from the building. A 16-year-old boy is in custody following a series of threatening phone calls made to Harrison Central High School on Wednesday afternoon.

Law enforcement quickly responded to the situation, and the lockdown was lifted at approximately 1:30 p.m. The arrest follows a similar incident at the school the previous Friday, where another threatening phone call had also prompted a lockdown.

Authorities have identified and apprehended the juvenile suspected of making the calls. The teenager was arrested at his home and is now being held at the Harrison County Juvenile Detention Center. He faces two counts of making terroristic threats and is being held without bond.

Sheriff Haley emphasized the seriousness of such actions, stating, “Parents need to have those hard talks with their kids. I don’t think a lot of these young people realize the outcome of something like this. You call the school and make a threat, whether it be true or not, it could have some serious effects later on in life when you get caught for it.”

The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
