Florida State Football Ignores Fans, Gets Rid of Important FSU Tradition

Florida State lost two games on the field, and now, they're losing support from fans after doing away with a long-held Seminole tradition.

A writer named Jackson Bakich with NoleGameday wrote a piece this week detailing the fall of the War Chant, a chant the Florida State marching band would lead on defensive third downs for the 'Noles. FSU's band apparently has been told not to play it.

"According to an alumni member of the Marching Chiefs who wishes to remain anonymous, the band has been instructed to not play the War Chant on third downs while the Seminoles are on defense during home games," wrote Bakich.

"Instead, a DJ plays a sort of dubstep/house music style song in an attempt to fire up players while leaving the crowd puzzled," he added.

Bakich added that he was told this decision came straight from the football team.

"The alumni Chief told NoleGameday that it was the FSU athletics department that asked the Chiefs not to play the War Chant on third downs and that it be replaced with the DJ song – which was requested by the football team," he wrote.

So, the football team carelessly ignores a long-held tradition of playing their own music, and now fans are upset. Not just upset, they've already taken action, as Bakich wrote that 5,000+ people have already signed a petition to “limit DJ music and allow more Marching Chiefs performances at FSU games.”

It's been a tough few weeks for the Florida State football team. They've lost twice in embarrassing fashion to start the year, and now their own fans are turning on the team because they chose to get rid of a tradition the fans loved... just so they can pump in generic music of their own choosing.

It can't get much worse for these guys from a public image standpoint right now.
