DANVERS, MA – The Danvers Police Department is excited to announce the upcoming 2024 D.A.R.E. Golf Tournament, set to take place on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Ferncroft Country Club. The department invites community members to participate by forming teams, sponsoring holes, or making donations toward the raffle.

The D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program has been a cornerstone in the Danvers School System for over 20 years. Events like the Annual Golf Tournament provide crucial funding to continue this valuable program, which teaches students positive ways to say no to drugs and violence. The D.A.R.E. curriculum focuses on life skills such as dealing with peer pressure, bullying, managing stress, problem-solving, and building self-esteem.

Throughout the year, the Danvers Police Department sponsors various D.A.R.E. events, including:

    • Before and after-school sports programs
    • Saturday Bowling League
    • School dances
    • Summer day camp
    • Scholarships

The program is a collaborative effort involving the Danvers Police Department, local businesses, community leaders, parents, and teachers—all working together to help children navigate pressures that promote drug abuse and violence.

Community members interested in supporting the D.A.R.E. program can participate in several ways:

    • Golfer Registration: Form a team and enjoy a day on the greens at the Ferncroft Country Club.
    • Sponsorship Opportunities: Businesses and individuals can sponsor holes or contribute to the event in other meaningful ways.
    • Donations: Contribute items or funds toward the raffle to help raise additional funds for the program.

All proceeds from the Golf Tournament will directly benefit the D.A.R.E. program initiatives, ensuring that the youth of Danvers continue to receive education and support in making healthy, informed decisions.

For more information on registration, sponsorships, or how to donate, please visit the Danvers Police Department's D.A.R.E. page or contact the department directly.
