Jedrick Wills Jr. Out, Jack Conklin In For Browns

The Cleveland Browns are set on having a successful season and looking to get back to the playoffs for the second year in a row for the first time since Members Only jackets were in style.

Unfortunately, on Wednesday, left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. gave some bad news on his availability this week.

“I’m not starting this week,” Wills said. “I’m just going out there for individual drills. Just seeing how it feels and get back into things.”

Wills has been rehabbing from a torn MCL that ended his season a year ago. The process is long and arduous so the Browns want to be careful not to unleash the big guy too soon.

Right tackle Jack Conklin was cleared for contact two weeks ago and has been working at left tackle just in case. He will get the nod on the left side and Dawand Jones will move into his spot on the right side.

“You know, it’s different, but I did it in college,” Conklin said. “It’s definitely just getting the mentality of mostly just verbiage. The thought of everything one way and it’s just flipping it in your head.

“So again, maybe it’s just a little second more thought when I hear the play just to make sure I’m thinking of it as out the left side compared to the right.”

It will be a tall task trying to stop one of the leagues best pass rushers in Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons, so we would expect he gets help from the running backs and tight ends at times.

The Browns and Cowboys will get their season started in the FOX NFL Game of the Week on Sunday afternoon. Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady will make his broadcasting debut in this game.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET.
