A McKeesport detective is facing criminal charges today for allegedly stealing more than a million dollars from his union lodge, where he had been a financial officer.

The Attorney General's office says 55-year-old Joseph Osinski had moved money out of Fraternal Order of Police accounts into one he controlled.

He's also accused of depositing contributions meant for a fallen officer into the account he controlled.

Osinski was the financial secretary for FOP Lodge 91 from 2020 until April of this year.

“This defendant was not only a trusted member of law enforcement in his community, he was trusted by his peers and colleagues to handle their dues money in support of the FOP mission,” Attorney General Michelle Henry said. “His abuse of that trust left his fellow officers struggling to keep their lodge afloat and damaged the public’s trust in those working to protect them. These charges serve as a reminder that we will seek justice from those who harm our communities, regardless of job or position.”

Bail for Osinski set at $50,000 and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 9.
