The Green Bay Packers situation at running back is far from ideal. On Thursday, the eve of the regular season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil, two of the three active running backs on the 53-man roster have been listed as questionable to play.

Rookie MarShawn Lloyd has a hamstring injury he suffered against the Cleveland Browns in the preseason opener, while Emanuel Wilson has a hip injury. Both were limited participants on Thursday's practice, the only activity the Packers did in São Paulo before the game on Friday night.

If one or both of Lloyd and Wilson can't play on Friday, the Packers will be forced to elevate or promote running backs from the practice squad. Currently, Green Bay has three players at the position on the PS — Ellis Merriweather, who's been with the Packers since last year, plus La'Mical Perine and Chris Brooks, who have been added recently. Merriweather is the favorite to be called up because of his familiarity with the system and his teammates.

AJ Dillon is out for the season with a neck injury. The starter is Josh Jacobs , who should carry a heavy workload.

    Questionable

The only other questionable player for the Packers is tight end Tucker Kraft . He was even listed on the injury report on Tuesday, but had back pain and was added to the report before the trip to Brazil, on Wednesday. He was a limited participant on Thursday, but looked to move well in the open portion to the media. The only other unavailable player for the Packers is edge defender Arron Mosby, who didn't travel to South America because of a personal matter.

    Good to go

All the other players who had been listed on the injury report practiced at full capacity on Thursday and are cleared to play. Those are wide receiver Romeo Doubs (hand) , cornerback Carrington Valentine (hamstring), and rookie off-ball linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (hip).

    Other side

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without two players for Friday's game. Off-ball linebacker Devin White (ankle) and cornerback Isaiah Rodgers (hand) have already been ruled out by the Eagles. The only other players on the team's injury report were because of veteran rest, so wide receiver AJ Brown and guard Landon Dickerson will be available to play.
