This Amish-Inspired Garlic Horseradish Salve Is The Number One Immunity Booster In My House

This Amish herbalism inspired recipe is another amazing thing I've learned from my Amish neighbor. For us outside the community, especially during back to school, bugs get brought home and passed around, and sometimes, more than once. Fortunately, there are homemade treatments like garlic horseradish salve that can be made on the spot by using basic spices. This one is super easy and could alleviate your symptoms, keep them from being passed around, and keep them from getting worse.

The antibacterial properties of garlic and horseradish are the superstars of this recipe. Coconut oil, which has antiviral, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties, is the base of this ointment-type salve. Since this mixture is extremely, ummmm... aromatic, as you might imagine, there is peppermint oil to help mask the aroma and create a menthol-like effect to clear sinuses.

    Preparing The Salve

This recipe helps you fight infections, kick colds, boost your immune system, give you energy, and help clear your lungs. Due to the presence of peppermint essential oil, this salve is safe for both adults and children older than two. Obviously, consult your doctor before starting something new. If you're allergic to anything in this recipe, don't use it.

    Ingredients

    • Ten garlic cloves
    • Half a cup of coconut oil
    • Three TBSP powdered horseradish
    • Five drops of essential peppermint oil

    Directions

Step 1: Add everything to a food processor.

Step 2: Blend for two to three minutes, or until the mixture has a buttery consistency. To fully blend all of the ingredients, make sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl. Move to a storage container and keep chilled.

    How To Use

Take a dime-sized dot and rub it over your chest, soles of your feet, or the area behind your shoulder blades. As long as symptoms continue, you can use the treatment every two to three hours. As usual, before using, we advise testing a little amount for any reaction.

For immediate comfort, you can also place this medicine beneath your nose. Leave out the peppermint essential oil if you're administering this treatment to kids younger than seven. It will keep for a month, maybe two, in the fridge.

So, the horseradish and mint open the pores and let the garlic sink into your system, with the coconut oil being the carrier. That checks. 👍 Will also keep away vampires…and probably any possible love interest.
