Jason Garrett Facing Backlash for Pregame Patrick Mahomes Comments

Former NFL coach-turned-NBC analyst Jason Garrett is taking a lot of heat after his rather bizarre comments about Patrick Mahomes before the Kansas City Chiefs' season opener against the Baltimore Ravens.

While the NBC crew was talking about the game and the key players involved for both teams, Garrett chimed in and discussed the "misperceptions" that, as he claims, many fans have about Mahomes.

Garrett said that some fans think Mahomes is a "seat-of-the-pants type guy" who is "kinda winging it out there." The one-time NFL Coach of the Year then proceeded to refute those claims by saying that "you can't play great in the big moments and be a seat-of-the-pants guy."

The three-time Super Bowl champion added that Mahomes is a "leader" and a "generational player" as he tried to prove his point about the Chiefs star.

Sure enough, fans were confused by Garrett's statement, with many people pointing out that no one thinks Mahomes doesn't actually come prepared and only "wings" it during games.

"Who thinks that? Football’s a chess match," a commenter said. Another one shared, "Jason Garrett is an idiot. Absolutely no one thinks that."

"Jason Garrett sucks," a critic added.

A social media user furthered, "Jason Garrett nobody thinks Mahomes is winging it at QB."

Another poster asked, "Who are the people saying that about Patrick Mahomes?"

Jason Garrett has yet to respond to the criticisms he's getting, but in order to defend himself, he might need to pull out the receipts and show the people who really believe Mahomes is just winging it on the field.
