    Worker killed after being hit by several-hundred-pound tire at Titan Tire plant

    DES MOINES, Iowa — A worker at Titan Tire in Des Moines was killed after a several-hundred-pound tire fell on her Thursday morning.

    At around 8:30 a.m. the Des Moines Police Department and Fire Department responded to a report of a potential death at the Titan Tire plant in the 2300 block of East Market Street. According to Sgt. Paul Parizek with DMPD, a several-hundred-pound tire fell on an adult female worker and she died at the scene.

    Titan International released the following statement about the incident:

    Titan deeply regrets to announce the tragic loss of a QPS Employment Group employee who was performing services at our Des Moines, IA facility. The incident occurred this morning, September 5, 2024. Local authorities and emergency responders were called and are on-site. Our thoughts are with the employee’s family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. We are committed to supporting them in every way possible, and we are cooperating fully with local authorities and QPS Employment Group to ensure all safety protocols are thoroughly reviewed and enforced.
