Netflix is facing a backlash as it yanked the hit series off its platform , despite the show boasting a perfect 100 score on Rotten Tomatoes on the critics.

Jane the Virgin is leaving Netflix. The romantic comedy turned became a fan-favorite after its five seasons dropped on Netflix, captivating viewers with its quirky blend of drama and humor. The CW show features Gina Rodriguez as the titular character Jane Gloriana Villanueva, a 23-year-old devout Latina who starts the series as a virgin and finds herself unexpectedly pregnant due to a medical mistake. The series follows her journey through motherhood after she gives birth to her son, Mateo Gloriano Rogelio Solano Villanueva for five seasons from 2014 to 2019.

Subscribers are voicing their dismay after the company decided to remove the popular show, sparking frustration and disappointment across social media. "Cannot believe Netflix is taking off Jane the Virgin this is outrageous," one user aired their grievance on X, previously known as Twitter.

Another chimed in saying, "I was so ready to rewatch Jane the Virgin and now it's leaving Netflix." As the outrage grows, one viewer declared war on Netflix, tweeting: "@netflix we're beefing why would you get rid of Jane the Virgin."

Yet another viewer lamented the challenge of finishing the show before its removal, jokingly noting the parallels between their own life and the show's plot sans pregnancy and men drama: ""Trying to finish up Jane the Virgin before Netflix takes it down is hard. Mainly because we got the same life besides the pregnancy and the men drama." An additional dismayed comment read: "Forever gonna hate Netflix for removing Jane the Virgin my f------ comfort show."

Jane the Virgin is set to leave Netflix on Friday, September 6. The show, boasting 100 episodes, first landed on Netflix as part of a deal with CW in 2011 and was renewed in 2016. However, when it came time for renewal in 2019, neither party chose to sign a new contract, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While some fans are disappointed that Jane the Virgin will be leaving Netflix, rest assured, it will still be available on other platforms where discussions of Team Micheal or Team Rafael (Jane's two main love interests) can still continue. The series can be purchased on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV for those who may not finish binge-watching before Friday. The show, which earned Rodriguez a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Jane, is loosely based on the Venezuelan TV drama Juana la virgen.
