The New York Knicks have been one of, if not the most active team in the offseason, and one of the biggest moves was re-signing defensive wing OG Anunoby to a new contract.

The deal they signed him to was for five years and is worth $212.5 million, as they wanted to make sure they locked him up for the foreseeable future. He could be a big part of what the team is looking to do over the next few years, and they paid as such.

But according to a report by Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News , Anunoby threatened to leave the Knicks in free agency, and one of the teams that was interested was the rival Philadelphia 76ers.

However, they ended up going after superstar forward Paul George in free agency after the Knicks signed Anunoby to a new deal. The two defensive-minded wings will match up a good amount this season, as their two teams go at it four times over the course of the regular season.

Anunoby's fit with the Knicks is hand-in-glove, as the team's head coach, Tom Thibodau is very defense-oriented. If the star forward can stay on the floor this season, he could help the Knicks contend with the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference.
