    So just a thought but how about a study that compares the retune of wild stealhead to how many hatchery fish are put in the rivers for example the santiam system this year. Maybe the more hatchery fish put in reduced the number of wild smolts that are eaten by predators because the eat the hatchery smolts and that is why such a good return on wild fish over willamette falls this year because of the big dump 2 years ago of all the hatchery smolts??? Look back at past data. Maybe you have it wrong about hatchery smolts they may help wild returns because they get eaten as smolts and help wild smolts survive???
