20 years ago, my son had whooping cough. He was vaccinated. Vaccinations wear down/off, or strains change. He passed it to me. I was early 40s, he was 17, and both fairly healthy. It felt like ribs broke to cough! It's no joke, quite painful. Just be aware you can be vaccinated and still get it!
