Skip Bayless has been known for his hot takes over the years. The 72-year-old broadcaster is also a self-confessed Caitlin Clark fan, so you just know that it was only going to be a matter of time before these two facts were set to collide.

Skip has had his fair share of polarizing statements about the Indiana Fever superstar. For one, Bayless recently declared that Clark is "the best 22 since Emmitt Smith ."

That's some pretty lofty praise from Bayless, considering how Smith is the NFL's all-time leading rusher. There are also more than a few legends that have donned the No. 22 jersey in various sports.

One of them happens to be Las Vegas Aces All-Star center A'ja Wilson. The 28-year-old is currently the frontrunner for this year's Most Valuable title, which, incidentally, will potentially be the third time she's bagged this prestigious personal accolade.

For his part, however, Skip Bayless isn't ready to crown Wilson as the 2024 WNBA MVP just yet. According to the former "Undisputed" host, Clark has now emerged as a serious threat to the MVP crown.

"I'm sorry, it's gotten to the point where Rookie of the Year is over two [or] three weeks ago," he said. "All of a sudden, Caitlin Clark is starting to push A'ja Wilson for MVP of this league. And I am not exaggerating. She is starting to push A'ja as the best player in the league because I don't see anybody control the game the way Caitlin can."

Bayless had a lot more to say about Clark in his near-six-minute monologue, which includes his take on Caitlin already running away with the Rookie of the Year title over Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky. However, there's no denying that his MVP declaration sticks out.

For what it's worth, Clark just bagged August's Eastern Conference Player of the Month award behind averages of 24.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists. During this stretch, she also led the Fever to a 5-1 record en route to booking their spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2018.

At this point, it's no surprise that, like Skip, more and more people are jumping on the Caitlin Clark MVP hype train.

If CC continues to play at this high level AND the Fever make a run through the playoffs AND they win it all (which is possible), then it could be that Clark will get the MVP also. If not, then Aja should get the nod for her incredible year.
