    Each week, Consequence celebrates New Music Friday by highlighting newly released albums to stream. We’ve made to September, and fall is upon us — luckily, this week gives us plenty to savor before the leaves start changing. We’re checking out new music from David Gilmour, Fred again.., Hinds, Toro y Moi, and of course, a great singer-songwriter named MJ Lenderman. Here are 10 new albums to stream today.


    Blink-182 — One More Time… Part 2

    Last year, the beloved 2000s pop-punk band returned with their comeback album, One More Time… . Now, they are riding the reunion excitement with an expansion of the album, One More Time… Part 2 . The new album includes eight previously-unreleased songs, some of which they’ll likely bust out during the remainder of their 2024 tour this fall (get tickets here ).

    David Gilmour — Luck and Strange

    The former Pink Floyd frontman is releasing his fifth solo studio album, Luck and Strange , which is a reflection of mortality and getting older. Gilmour began working on the rock album during the pandemic and included many personal touches, including lyrical collaborations with his wife Polly Samson, vocals from his daughter Romany and son Gabriel, and keyboard recordings from a jam session with Pink Floyd keyboardists Richard Wright, who died in 2017.

    Fred again.. — Ten Days

    The producer returns today with Ten Days , another moving document inspired by ten individual days in his life. Since his last full album, Fred’s audience has grown tenfold, culminating with some major headlining performances this year. Now, with collaborations from Anderson. Paak, Sampha, CHIKA, The Japanese House, Emmylou Harris, and more, he’s back with a bang.

    Hinds — VIVA HINDS

    The Spanish indie rock outfit is back with its new album VIVA HANDS , which arrives via Lucky Number. The record boasts the band’s first Spanish language songs, includes notable guests Beck and Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten, and previews their fall United States tour .

    Mercury Rev — Born Horses

    For the first time in nine years, Mercury Rev is back with a brand new album of original songs. Entitled Born Horses , the veteran indie act has cited Blade Runner , Miles Davis, and Broadway numbers as inspiration for the new set of tunes.

    MJ Lenderman — Manning Fireworks

    Buzzy up-and-comer MJ Lenderman makes his ANTI- Records debut with Manning Fireworks , the rootsy follow-up to his 2022 breakout Boat Songs and last year’s live effort And the Wind (Live and Loose!). The Wednesday guitarist has also announced a slew of tour dates to support the new album.

    Nala Sinephro – Endlessness

    If you’re even remotely a fan of jazz, carve out some time today to get lost in Nala Sinephro’s expansive, experimental, orchestral new album, Endlessness . Ambient and immersive, the 10-track album is an exploration of cycles of existence that sees the artist skillfully combining the energy of moody jazz standards with electronic flourishes and unexpected tempo changes. Throw it on loop and it really does start to feel endless, in all the best ways.

    Peel Dream Magazine — Rose Main Reading Room

    Peel Dream Magazine are so in their own lane that they put out Rose Main Reading Room , their sublime new album, on Wednesday instead of today. The psych-pop group conjure a unique spell throughout the album’s 15 songs, culminating with the standout single “Lie in the Gutter” and dreamy closer “Counting Sheep.”

    The The — Ensoulment

    The The’s first new album in 24 years is finally here. Led by Matt Johnson, Ensoulment surveys the modern world and comes back with a little bit of optimism. “It’s vital to be hopeful,” Johnson said in a statement, “[ Ensoulment ] was created under very happy circumstances, with a great vibe amongst the band and all the people that worked on it.”

    Toro y Moi — Hole Erth

    Chaz Bear is back with a new Toro y Moi album titled Hole Erth , and he comes in company: the album features guest contributions from Kevin Abstract, Porches, Duckwrth, Glaive, Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, and more. It may be his most collaborative record yet, but as always, Toro y Moi’s inimitable style shines through.
