Talk Show Host Tamron Hall Does This Every Morning Before She Gets Out of Bed

It’s a sunny summer morning and even on a Zoom call, talk show host Tamron Hall has a warm smile that makes the day instantly seem brighter. The two-time Emmy Award winner’s days are busy juggling motherhood, marriage and her syndicated hit talk show (with the new season starting September 3rd), but she seems to […]

“Traveling is good for your brain,” insists Diane, who takes her kids to two countries and two states every year. On this year’s trip to Uganda, Africa, Diane and her twin girls, Sawyer and Coco, 16, combined fun with goodwill, delivering over 5,000 feminine hygiene products to women through the nonprofit Energy In Action . “Service work is always fulfilling. But women helping women is a whole other kind of feeling.”

Her next adventure is the return of Fire Country for Season 3 on CBS on October 18 — which she stars in with Billy Burke, who plays her husband Vince Leone. Diane teases, “I’m so proud of the true-life experiences the writers are bringing for my character, Sharon, this season! She has a crisis coming that I have lived with myself, and she runs right at it the way she does a fire — the way I try to do in my life. I hope ultimately the story inspires others to ask for help when they need it.”

    Diane Farr talks shifting priorities

“When I was on Numbers on CBS, I accidentally had three kids in a year and a half,” Diane says with a laugh. “A one-hour drama was the worst schedule for parenting young babies, and I had to leave. I didn’t stop working, but I had a rule for 15 years: only a comedy, only on cable, only in L.A.”

How's this for career trajectory: It's 1965, you're 18-years-old and working as the head counter girl at the Sunkist orange juice booth at Disneyland's Adventureland when, upon telling him you'd written two articles for the company's employee newsletter, Walt Disney himself suggests that you "keep it up" as a writer and three years later, on […]

Then she read the Fire Country pilot, and loved it. “It was right after COVID, so I was like, ‘The kids are old enough. They’re mad at Mom all the time. This might just help our cause.’ And it did!” Diane reveals. “Everyone’s happy. As women, we do so many things at the same time. It was great to have that time with my kids…But it’s also been nice to come back to work [full-time] and have a purpose…to find my own worth.”

Diane Farr’s secret to bliss: Do something wild!

“When I was going through a divorce in my late 40s, I needed something to be wild — and I don’t know any moms who are disco dancing on Friday nights,” cracks Diane. “So I got a motorcycle license, and it was like going from a 120-volt plug to a 220! It was slightly terrifying, but when I’m doing it, I can’t think about anything else. We all need that thing that gets us out of our heads.”

“I borrow my character’s wardrobe all the time,” shares Diane, but she adds that her firefighting gear, which weighs 65 pounds, can be a workout.

“When I was in my 30s, I didn’t really exercise. For this role? I was like, ‘I’ll do some Pilates!’ Didn’t help. I know why athletes retire at 28 — this hurts! So I stay quiet and conserve energy between heavy wardrobe scenes. And thankfully, there’s a nice massage place near my house.”
