Your wallet may be hurting, but the cinephiles in your house will thank you for access to highly anticipated titles like the new George Clooney and Brad Pitt movie Wolfs ; the new Rosemary’s Baby prequel, Apartment 7A ; and Netflix’s awards seasons hopeful, Emilia Pérez .

There’s a lot to keep track of, and we know you don’t want to miss a thing. For your convenience, Decider has compiled a list of the 13 most exciting films—and where to watch them—coming to streaming services like Netflix, Apple TV+, Hulu, and more, this fall.

    1. Uglies
      https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0w9lUI_0vMxt7GM00
      Photo: Netflix

      Release Date : September 13
      Streaming Service: Netflix
Cast: Joey King, Keith Powers, Chase Stokes, Brianne Tju, and Laverne Cox
Why We’re Hyped: Millennial book lovers may remember the best-selling series Uglies , about a dystopian world where every human is considered “ugly” until they get beautifying plastic surgery at the age of 16. Now, nearly twenty years later, Scott Westerfeld’s popular young adult novel is a feature film, starring Netflix favorite Joey King in the lead role. Fans of the book have been waiting literal decades for this one, which promises to be a compelling, fun teen sci-fi thriller.

    2. Child Star
      https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0dpwuq_0vMxt7GM00
      Photo: Disney

      Release Date : September 17
      Streaming Service: Hulu
Cast: Demi Lovato, Christina Ricci, Drew Barrymore, Raven-Symoné
Why We’re Hyped: Demi Lovato is one of the most interesting, most outspoken former Disney Channel stars, so we can’t wait to hear her tell her story, in her own words, in this upcoming documentary. Co-directed by Lovato and Nicola Marsh, Lovato sits down to speak with other former child stars—including Drew Barrymore, Kenan Thompson, Christina Ricci, Raven-Symoné, and JoJo Siwa—to compare notes on their bizarre, strenuous, and ethically dubious upbringing as child entertainers. Following books like I’m Glad My Mom Died and docs like Quiet on Set , this subject couldn’t feel more timely.

    3. His Three Daughters

      Photo: Netflix

Release Date : September 20 (on Netflix), September 6 (in theaters)
      Streaming Service: Netflix
Cast: Carrie Coon, Natasha Lyonne, and Elizabeth Olsen
Why We’re Hyped: It’s officially film festival season, and quite a few of the indie films premiering at the festivals will be distributed via streaming. That includes this upcoming family drama that premiered at Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews. The main draw is the performances from the three powerhouse lead actors—Carrie Coon, Natasha Lyonne and Elizabeth Olsen—who star as three estranged sisters brought back together to care for their elderly father. I’m ready to cry!

    4. Wolfs
      https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2yL9CF_0vMxt7GM00
      Photo: Apple TV+

Release Date : September 27 (on Apple TV+), September 20 (in theaters)
      Streaming Service: Apple TV+
Cast: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Amy Ryan
Why We’re Hyped: George Clooney and Brad Pitt reportedly gave up some of their salaries to ensure their new action comedy got a theatrical release. But last month Apple abruptly pivoted from a wide release in theaters to a week-long release in select theaters, followed by a streaming release on Apple TV+. That’s not exactly a ringing endorsement for the film, but, still: How can you not be excited about a Clooney and Pitt team-up? These Oceans 11 co-stars play two professional “fixers,” who are forced to work together even though they prefer to work alone. It probably won’t win any Oscars, but it probably will be fun!

    5. Apartment 7A
      https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2eWmuk_0vMxt7GM00

      Release Date : September 27
      Streaming Service: Paramount+
Cast: Julia Garner, Dianne Wiest, Jim Sturgess, and Kevin McNally
Why We’re Hyped: Attention classic horror movie fans: There’s a Rosemary’s Baby prequel coming soon to streaming, starring Emmy-winning Ozark actor Julia Garner. Set three years before the events of the infamous 1968 horror movie directed by convicted rapist Roman Polanski, Apartment 7A tells the story of Terry Gionoffrio, a young dancer who becomes addicted to painkillers after an injury, and moves in with a kind elderly couple: Minnie and Roman Castevet. You know how this story ends, but that doesn’t make Terry’s journey any less compelling.

    6. Rez Ball
      https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0CLDlR_0vMxt7GM00
      Photo: Netflix

      Release Date : September 27
      Streaming Service: Netflix
Cast: Jessica Matten, Julia Jones, Amber Midthunder, and Kiowa Gordon
Why We’re Hyped: If you loved Reservation Dogs on FX, be sure to check out this new film, Sydney Freeland, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sterlin Harjo, both of whom were regular directors on the FX series. Based on the “nonfiction sports novel” Canyon Dreams by Michael Powell, the film follows a Native American high school basketball team gearing up for a state championship, after losing their star player. Also, LeBron James is a producer on the film, so if nothing else, you can expect to see some good ball!

    7. Lonely Planet
      https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0VQsAO_0vMxt7GM00
      Photo: Hilary Bronwyn Gayle/Netflix

      Release Date : October 11
      Streaming Service: Netflix
      Cast: Laura Dern, Liam Hemsworth
Why We’re Hyped: May-December romances are all the rage at the moment, and Netflix is back with another one, this time starring Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth. Dern stars as a novelist who travels to Morocco for a writer’s retreat, and strikes up a friendship with a charming young man (Hemsworth), which soon blossoms into a passionate affair. No one does a light-hearted romance better than Netflix, and Oscar-winner Laura Dern feels like the perfect leading lady for this easy-watching love story. (As far as we know, the Lonely Planet has nothing to do with the travel website and book series of the same name.)

    8. Woman of the Hour

      Release Date : October 18
      Streaming Service: Netflix
Cast: Anna Kendrick, Daniel Zovatto, Nicolette Robinson, Tony Hale
Why We’re Hyped: In her directorial debut, Anna Kendrick is taking viewers back to the year 1978, for a crime thriller based on the true story of serial killer Rodney Alcala (played by Daniel Zovatto), who made an appearance on a TV game show in the middle of his killing spree. In addition to directing, Kendrick also stars fellow contestant, Cheryl Bradshaw, the unlucky woman who wins a date with Alcala on The Dating Game. The film already premiered at Toronto International Film Festival to positive reviews, and feels like it will be a perfect spooky season streaming watch in October.

    9. Salem’s Lot
      https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3OneLd_0vMxt7GM00
Photo: Justin Lubin / © Warner Bros. /Courtesy Everett Collection

      Release Date : October TBA
Streaming Service: Max (formerly HBO Max)
Cast: Lewis Pullman, Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, Pilou Asbæk, Alfre Woodard, and William Sadler
Why We’re Hyped: Is it really October without a Stephen King adaption? This upcoming supernatural horror movie from director Gary Dauberman ( Annabelle, The Nun ) is based on the 1975 King novel, Salem’s Lot , about a writer (played by Lewis Pullman in the movie) who returns to his hometown for inspiration, only to find said town being terrorized by a vampire. With Dauberman directing and Conjuring creator James Wan producing, it feels like this classic King work is in good hands.

    10. Emilia Pérez

      Photo: Shanna Besson/PAGE 114 – WHY NOT PRODUCTIONS – PATHÉ FILMS – FRANCE 2 CINÉMA © 2024.

Release Date : November 13 (on Netflix), November 1 (in theaters)
      Streaming Service: Netflix
Cast: Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz, Mark Ivanir and Édgar Ramírez
Why We’re Hyped: Emilia Pérez looks like it might just be Netflix’s best chance at a 2024 Best Picture nomination. Written and directed by acclaimed French filmmaker Jacques Audiard, this “musical crime comedy” already won the prestigious Jury Prize at Cannes Film Festival, and Best Actress rumblings are already brewing for star Zoe Saldaña. In the film, Saldaña stars as a lawyer who reluctantly helps a Mexican drug cartel leader, Emila Pérez (played by Karla Sofía Gascón), escape authorities and receive the gender-affirming surgery she desires. Did we mention this is a musical? It sounds like a wild ride, and we can’t wait to watch.

    11. The Piano Lesson
      https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=44CEMO_0vMxt7GM00
      Photo: ©Netflix/Courtesy Everett Collection

Release Date : November 22 (on Netflix), November 8 (in theaters)
      Streaming Service: Netflix
Cast: Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington, Ray Fisher, Michael Potts, Erykah Badu, Skylar Aleece Smith, Danielle Deadwyler, and Corey Hawkins
Why We’re Hyped: A new film adaptation of August Wilson’s 1987 play, The Piano Lesson , is coming to Netflix, and the line-up of talent is stacked. Legend Samuel L. Jackson stars as Doaker Charles, a patriarch trying to keep his family afloat in Pittsburgh, 1936, in the aftermath of the Great Depression. The family’s most prized possession is an old piano, decorated with carvings done by enslaved ancestors. The adaptation was directed by Malcolm Washington, who co-wrote the script with Virgil Williams, and promises to be a powerful retelling of this revered story.

      Release Date : December 13
      Streaming Service: Netflix
      Cast: Taron Egerton, Jason Bateman
Why We’re Hyped: Taron Egerton plays the world’s coolest TSA agent in this upcoming action movie directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. Egerton’s character, Ethan Kopek, accidentally let a dangerous package slip through security. (My money is on a bottle of lotion that’s larger than 3.4 ounces.) Is Egerton about to become the Tom Cruise of airport security movies? Only time will time. Even if not, Egerton is always fun to watch on screen, as is Jason Bateman, who plays a “Mysterious Traveler” that Egerton confronts in the airport.

    13. The Six Triple Eight
      https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=10GHFk_0vMxt7GM00

Release Date : December 20 (on Netflix), December (in theaters)
      Streaming Service: Netflix
Cast: Kerry Washington, Sam Waterston, Susan Sarandon, Oprah Winfrey
Why We’re Hyped: Tyler Perry is continuing his foray into drama by writing and directing this upcoming historical war film, based on a 2019 WWII History magazine article by Kevin M. Hymel. Starring Emmy-nominated actor Kerry Washington as a Major Charity Adams, The Six Triple Eight tells the true story of an all-black and all-female battalion in World War II. Whatever you may think of Perry as a filmmaker, it’s hard to argue with a movie that stars both Washington and Oprah Winfrey!
