Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A musical celebration will be held at the Westchester Commons Concert Field on Sunday, Sept. 8 in honor of longtime radio host Kat Simons, who died in June.

In the wake of her passing, the Friends of Kat Simons Foundation was created in order to carry on Simons’ legacy of contributing to charitable causes and organizations.

Simons was devoted to animals, loved music, and was active in the community for over 25 years. She touched many lives in her work helping pet shelters, veterans, seniors, and mental health-focused causes.

Sunday’s musical celebration will spotlight the charities Simons supported for years. The free event will feature live music from Susan Greenbaum Band, 64 Crayons Band, KOS Band and Ryan Colton & Not Just 90’s Unplugged.

The celebration is set to take place from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Westchester Commons Concert Field.

While the event is free to attend, donations are encouraged on the Friends of Kat Simons Foundation’s website to help the charities Simons held close to her heart.

Simons worked for the station known for decades as Lite 98 as a DJ on middays for more than 25 years.
