Five Texas universities are ranked among the best 100 in America, and for the first time, one has cracked the top 10.

Forbes updated their America's Top Colleges list Thursday. For this list, the team examines alumni salary and success, student debt, ROI, and many other factors to determine what are America's top universities. Rice University in Houston has jumped to number nine on the list after being recognized as one of the "New Ivies" earlier this year.

Forbes says Rice students often graduate with low debt. Four other Texas universities made Forbes' top 100: UT Austin, Texas A&M, Trinity University, and SMU in Dallas. Seventeen other schools rank in the top 500 nationwide, including six HBCUs.

This is notable as some Texas schools have cut back on diversity initiatives and after a new law closed DEI departments in Texas state-funded colleges.
Outside of Texas, Princeton University grabbed the number one spot on Forbes' list. They have a 97 percent six-year graduation rate for low-income students.

Following Princeton were Stanford, MIT, Yale, and the University of California Berkeley.
