EDISON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A FedEx driver was robbed of the truck’s contents at gunpoint by a trio of men in New Jersey on Thursday, authorities said.

According to Deputy Chief Robert Dudash, at about 8 p.m., the driver was swapping out trailers on Greek Lane in Edison, when he was approached by three men wearing blue medical masks and dark clothing.

The trio forced the 35-year-old driver into the truck at gunpoint and demanded he drive to Ethel Road, where a box truck was parked in a lot. Two of the men rode with the driver, while the third followed in an unknown vehicle, Dudash added.

The robbers then forced the FedEx driver to remove items from his truck and load them into a white box truck which was parked at the Ethel Road location. Once the pallets were moved, the trio zip tied the driver, stole his phone and fled the scene, officials said.

The FedEx driver was able to free himself about 10 minutes later and alerted police using his Apple watch. He was not injured.

Authorities are currently working to assess what and how much was stolen from the two pallets and are trying to locate the robbers.
