In case you were doing something else besides screaming along with Linkin Park during their livestream event on September 6, rest assured the band is officially back in action -- and it's for sure a welcome one judging by everyone's reactions.

After teasing fans the week prior, Linkin Park made good by debuting their brand new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” during a 14-song set streamed live from a secret location in Los Angeles. But that wasn't all, the reveal came with two new band members as well -- singer Emily Armstrong , formerly of Dead Sara , and new drummer Colin Brittain .

In a press release, Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda said the more the band had a chance to work with Armstrong and Brittain, “the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created... We feel really empowered with this new line-up and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together. We’re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for and still exploring new ones.”

Taking on a new singer, for any band, can be one of the toughest decisions to make. Linkin Park not only had to find someone up to the task when announcing their return, but also needed to contend with the simple fact that there is no replacement for their beloved late-frontman, Chester Bennington , whose inimitable vocals put a stamp on the group's sound over their tenure.

In the end, the decision was made, and the band laid it all out for the world to see this week. So, what's the verdict? According to some of Rock's biggest names, this is exactly what we all need, at exactly the right time.

Avenged Sevenfold 's M. Shadows took a break from his X break to offer the band a warm welcome back , while MGK chimed in with a resounding "f*** yea" for Armstrong as well.

Shinedown 's Brent Smith had perhaps the most emo take, telling followers, “I know the Internet is ablaze with comments of criticism and also of praise from fans all over the world,” on the band's Instagram . “Something to think about," he adds... "Do you honestly believe that the members of this ICONIC Band truly think that of all people [Chester Bennington] is replaceable??? The entire world knows he will never be replaceable because he was one of a kind. But with all that being said there is an audience that miss this band, and their presence, and what they represent. So I asked you, ALL of you… Give them the opportunity to not close their chapter. Allow them to celebrate their legacy, and also the opportunity to create a new one.”

During the band's livestream this week, Linkin Park revealed their first album since 2017, FROM ZERO , is set for release on November 15, plus a short run of 2024 tour dates. Pre-orders are available NOW . Take a look at the official album art, tracklisting, and tour itinerary -- and grab your tickets HERE .

No one is celebrating this. It's not Linkin Park without Chester. She's a horrible singer.
