    Narcotics Search Warrant Results in Multiple Arrests in Cleburne County

    HEFLIN, AL - A joint operation between the Cleburne County Sheriff's Department and the Heflin Police Department resulted in the apprehension of five individuals on a variety of felony and misdemeanor charges. The operation, conducted on Thursday afternoon, September 5th, 2024, involved the execution of two narcotics search warrants in the 1000 block of County Road 79.

    Individuals Arrested and Charges

    The following individuals were taken into custody and booked into the Cleburne County Jail:

    • Steven Edward Walker, 53, of Heflin, AL: Faces multiple felony charges including Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, Trafficking Methamphetamines, and pending warrants for Probation Violation and SORNA violation.
    • Kendra Cheatwood Motes, 45, of Heflin, AL: Charged with felony Trafficking Methamphetamines and misdemeanor Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
    • Jeffrey Benson, 56, of Heflin, AL: Charged with felony Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm and misdemeanor Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
    • David Ray Payne, 56, of Heflin, AL: Faces several felony charges related to firearm possession, controlled substances, and marijuana, in addition to a pending warrant.
    • Felicia Lynn Campbell, 38, of Heflin, AL: Charged with felony Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Marijuana, along with a misdemeanor charge.
