Big Sky is widely considered one of North America's top five ski resorts. It’s located in southwestern Montana in the Madison Mountain Range, about 50 miles southwest of Bozeman and 45 miles north of West Yellowstone. Big Sky Resort is known for its breathtaking scenery, spacious terrain, and long runs.

The resort has an average annual snowfall of more than 400 inches, a vertical drop of 4,350 feet, a summit elevation of 11,166 feet, and 36 lifts spread over 5,850 acres of skiable terrain. The terrain is 15 percent beginner-friendly, 25 percent intermediate, 42 percent advanced, and 18 percent expert.

Big Sky Resort will open for the 2024-’25 winter season on November 27, 2024.

    Crazy Eights

The Six Shooter has been replaced by the Madison 8 , the world’s longest 8-person chairlift. The new D-line chairlift will reduce ride time by 30 percent and double uphill capacity out of the Madison base. Big Sky is now the only resort in North America to have two eight-person lifts. The new lift features ultrawide heated seats with a weatherproof Big Sky Blue Bubble.

    New Lone Peak Tram Terminal

Big Sky unveiled its new Lone Peak Tram last December and will debut the new glass dome bottom terminal for the 2024-’25 ski season. This thick glass canopy has more than 400 panels and is meant to mimic the fluid, faceted surface of snowflakes and ice crystals.

The ski lodge and gondola for One and Only Moonlight Basin is their first resort in the United States and will open for the winter 2024’25 ski season with new dining and après experiences. There are 73 guest rooms and suites, 19 guest cabins, 62 private homes, eight private estate lots, and six resort buildings.
