Jemima Kirke's patterned tiles add the perfect amount of vibrancy to her living room wall – we love how she styled around them

Alternatively, contrasting elements, such as the deep red sofa in Kirke's living area, can act as nice juxtaposing pieces against patterned tiles.

'Pairing minimalist, sleek furniture with vibrant patterned tiles can add a sophisticated contrast,' she explains. 'If the tiles are vintage or traditional, consider contemporary pieces to strike a modern-traditional balance.'

Kirke's space fuses color with pattern for a dopamine decor -esque appearance; however, it is noteworthy that she has opted for solid colors in the rest of the room rather than several other patterns, which could clash.

Finally, consider bringing in some nature to a space with patterned tiles, as it helps calm a room.

'Incorporate other natural elements like wood or stone to soften the boldness of patterned tiles,' Lichtenstein says. 'A wooden dining table, wicker baskets, or woven textiles can introduce warmth and texture that complements rather than competes.'

According to Lichtenstein, the eye will naturally be drawn to wall tiles regardless of pattern.

'The tactile quality of tiles also adds depth, making walls feel more three-dimensional.,' she says. 'Whether your aim is to evoke a bohemian, eclectic vibe or a chic, modern atmosphere, patterned tiles provide the versatility to achieve it.'
