It was a second straight series sweep for the Mets, after they handled the Chicago White Sox over the weekend, their seventh straight win and eighth win in the last nine games.New York opened and closed the game with a pair of four-run innings in the first and eighth. After Jesse Winker crushed a Grand Slam to start the night, Boston pulled to within one run in the third inning. The game went scoreless from there, until Boston handed the Mets a trio of RBI walks to start the eighth inning and a sacrifice fly from Harrison Bader to take five-run lead. Boston was unable to add to its total at the top of the ninth.New York is still chasing the Atlanta Braves, who remained just a half game ahead of the Mets in the AL East after Wednesday’s win.
