Clueless Turtle Goes For A Ride On Front Yard Sprinkler

I apologize in advance for saying this - this front yard sprinkler had the turtle shell-shocked. Forgive me for the corny turtle pun, but I felt like I had to do it. It's not everyday that you get to see a turtle getting into a head-to-head battle with a sprinkler system like this. So hopefully you can give that bad joke that I got things started with a pass. This viral clip has gotten a lot of attention just because of its absurdity. There were a lot of things that had to line up for this video to happen, like a turtle wandering close to a suburban irrigation system, and a person that just so happened to be nearby and noticing this battle getting out their phone. Okay... maybe two things had to line up. Three if you count the literal lining up of the turtle's shell on top of the sprinkler head. When most people watch this, they'll think, "Oh man what a mistake this turtle made." But has anyone stopped to think that maybe what this shelled reptile was doing was intentional? Turtles generally live a pretty slow, low-key life. So maybe this one figured out how to add a little thrill-seeking into its routine, and that thrill comes in the form of a sprinkler that goes up and down. It's hilarious to watch the helpless turtle get raised up into the air by the sprinkler, still moving its extremities like its a swimming dog that you just lifted out of the water. When it gets lifted up to the highest extent of the sprinkler, it understandably kicks its defense system on and hides its body within its own shell. Going into "shell mode" allows for it to plop down into the grass and regain its bearings.
