Justin Rose has given Jon Rahm a nudge, indicating that the door is still open for him to meet his Ryder Cup eligibility despite his switch to LIV Golf and time running out to complete the necessary participation.

After his leap to LIV last year, doubts have swirled around Rahm's prospects with Team Europe because, despite not wavering in his allegiance, he hasn't made enough appearances on the DP World Tour - something players must do at least four times a year to preserve their status.

This detail is crucial for those looking to lock in their spot on Luke Donald's 2025 European Ryder Cup team destined for Bethpage Black, as being part of the matchplay event calls for DP World Tour membership.

With the need to enter three more DP World Tour competitions and the clock ticking, Rahm, who was pivotal in Team Europe's triumph in Rome, finds his window narrowing.

Justin Rose, his teammate from the 2023 side, is earnestly wishing Rahm joins them in New York come next September - but warned he understands the DP World Tour must also protect its own interests amid the ongoing LIV Golf situation.

"No matter where the world rankings say he is, or, you know, the golf and the players he's competing against, or how he competes, we know what a great player he is," Rose stated.

"You want him on the team. He was such a massive part of our win in Rome. He played Scottie Scheffler [in the singles] and that half he had there was huge.

"It kept momentum, kept belief. You want your front-runners to go out there and do the job, and he did that. So yeah, he's a valuable part of the team."

Six-time Ryder Cup veteran Rose did offer a reminder to Rahm about his obligations to the DP World Tour, saying, "From my point of view, there's a pathway to play the Ryder Cup if he wants it.

"And I think that's all the DP World Tour can do. They have their interests to protect, and I still think that it's a doable situation should the player want to do it enough. That's my view on it. I think there's a pathway. And, you know, everyone makes their choices, and I respect everybody's choice. [But] no-one's saying you can't play."

With the LIV Golf season wrapping up in just two weeks after the Team Championship, Rahm has ample opportunities to fulfill his DP World Tour commitments, although there are some hurdles.

At this summer's Open Championship, when questioned, Rahm shared his desire to participate in Spain's national championship in October, contingent on the status of his wife Kelley's pregnancy. "We're still in conversations with the Tour," he mentioned regarding his membership discussions.

"I haven't been able to play any Tour events, so yeah, we're going to have to sort it out before I want to tee it up hopefully at the Spanish Open. At this point, I'm so still waiting on what might happen with my wife and daughter that I don't know if I'll be able to play or not. So my fall is still a little bit of a question mark when it comes to playing golf."
