As the Texas Tech Red Raiders prepare for their first road contest of the season in Pullman, Washington, against the Washington State Cougars, they could be short-handed.

As the program continues to scratch its collective heads trying to figure out what happened last week that allowed Abilene Christian an opportunity to win the game, we're tracking some significant injuries on the Red Raiders ' roster.

Linebacker Joseph Adedire is out for the season after suffering a knee injury on his own in the first week of preseason camp. The Red Raiders were counting on the Mansfield, Texas, product to have a breakout season after arriving in 2022 as a four-star recruit and top-100 player in the state.

Adedire joins fellow linebacker Dylan Spencer, who is also out for the year after suffering a knee injury in August during non-contact work on the first or second day of practice.

Starting running back Tahj Brooks is listed as questionable for Saturday with an arm injury. Without Brooks, the Red Raiders will look vastly different on offense. Brooks' two backups, Cam'Ron Valdez and Cam Dickey both got just one carry each against ACU, compared to Brooks' 27.

Also listed out against Washington State are linebacker Charles Esters III with a thigh and defensive back Javeon Wilcox with a knee.

Several players are listed as questionable, including starting safety back C.J. Baskerville, who's dealing with a shoulder injury. Just as Brooks' absence would cripple the Red Raiders ' offense, Baskerville missing from the lineup on Saturday would do likewise to the defense.

Other players listed as questionable for Saturday include linebackers John Curry and Harvey Dyson III, defensive lineman Quincy Ledet Jr., and defensive back Bralyn Lux.

The Red Raiders and Cougars kickoff Saturday night at 9 p.m. CT.
