Things got a bit chaotic on a Carnival cruise in Florida, with passengers chanting "give us our money," when a last-minute itinerary change was announced moments after travelers got on the ship.

The Carnival Vista cruise ship was meant to travel from Port Canaveral to the Caribbean, but changed its destination at the very last minute.

Instead of an 8-night Southern Caribbean cruise with stops in Aruba, Curacao and Turks and Cacaos, passengers were told the ship would travel to the Bahamas with stops in Nassau, Princess Cays, Freeport and Half Moon Cay, according to Inside Edition .

Passengers were told that engine troubles prohibited the ship from moving at full speed once it left Port Canaveral. They were offered a full refund if they wanted to cancel their trip or an onboard voucher if they continued on with the new itinerary.

Video posted to social media shows passengers were less-than-thrilled to find they paid for a Caribbean cruise to be put on a ship that could only go as far as the Bahamas.

"Give us our money," several guests aboard the ship chanted. Inside Edition described it as "a mutiny nearly [breaking] out."

One cruise employee tried to get ahold of the situation by telling the crowd, "Ladies and gentlemen, the way you're going about this with the noise and chaos isn't going to solve any issues."

Still, passengers didn't appreciate the last-minute notice. Some believe the cruise line knew about the issue well before hand but waited until everyone was on board to reveal the itinerary change.

"They knew about the problem prior to us getting onto the ship," Ashley Ball told Inside Edition. "They just didn't say that until we were already on the ship, and, you know, went through customs and the lines and securities and all that, and then decided to display that information."

In a statement to the New York Post , Carnival said it gave passengers several choices.

"We communicated directly with guests on board regarding their options for the sailing," the statement said. "Those that sailed were given an onboard credit as well as a future cruise credit toward another cruise to make up for the unexpected change, and those who preferred not to sail were offered a 100 percent refund."

Reports indicate that the ship has continued to experience ongoing issues and that Carnival has cancelled upcoming September cruises on the Vista.
