Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is still basking in the glory of winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

Curry devastated French basketball enthusiasts globally with his memorable performance in Team USA's 98-87 victory over France. Hitting four three-pointers in the last 2:43 of the contest, Curry racked up 24 points on eight three-pointers, clinching the gold medal for Team USA. He also nailed nine triples in the semifinals against Serbia.

McDonald's France was so affected by Curry's performance that it considered discontinuing its "Classic Curry" sauce in all France outlets until the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

On Thursday, Sept. 5, Curry appeared on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," where they discussed how French broadcasters dubbed Curry "the devil" during Team USA's gold medal match against France.

Curry addressed France's nickname for him during his interview with Colbert.

“They did. They really did,” Curry said. “I watched a lot of the highlights from it, and the French broadcast was hilarious. “The Devil Curry does it again,” [they said]. I will not be adopting that nickname, though.”

Curry's decisive contributions to Team USA's gold medal victory over France remain a surreal experience for the four-time NBA champion. He sometimes dons his gold medal and continues to view his highlights from the victory over France. In a CNBC interview, he candidly expressed his ongoing elation from the 2024 Olympics.

“Seven game series, it’s a long build up. This was just one game, 40 minutes. Can you get it done? And obviously, the France game, gold medal game in France. That last three minutes was storybook stuff,” said Curry. “It still hasn’t really sunk in. I mean, winning a gold, we expected to do that, we knew it was going to be hard, but how it happened? I still watch some highlights.”

Curry averaged a mere 7.3 points and shot 25% from beyond the arc during Team USA's initial four games, but he followed up with consecutive standout performances. His fourth-quarter dominance in the gold medal game was the crowning achievement for Team USA.
