Packers-Eagles Live Updates; Saquon Barkley Scores Again

The Green Bay Packers traveled to Brazil to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in their first game of the 2024 season.
Both of these teams are expected to be Super Bowl contenders.
The first piece of news that came across was the inactive list, which came in as followed.
Packers Inactives
WR Malik Heath
RB Marshawn Lloyd
DL Arron Mosby
DL Brenton Cox
OT Kadeem Telfort
OT Travis Glover
Elevated: RB Ellis Merriweather
Analysis: The big names here are Lloyd and Heath.
With the elevation of Ellis Merriweather, it seemed likely that one of Lloyd or Emanuel Wilson would be down this week. Both players have been hampered with injuries as we've transitioned from training camp.
The other surprise is that the Packers did not elevate Sean Clifford as a third quarterback option. That means tonight's backup quarterback is Malik Willis.
Willis just got to Green Bay at the end of training camp, but the team must feel confident about his ability to run the offense if something were to happen to Jordan Love.
Philadelphia Eagles Inactives
QB Tanner McKee
CB Isaiah Rodgers
LB Devin White
OLB Jalyx Hunt
OL Darian Kinnard
OL Trevor Keegan
DT Byron Young
Elevated: TE EJ Jenkins; OL Nick Gates
Analysis:
Devin White was ruled inactive earlier in the week ,but was reportedly beaten out by second-year man Nakobe Dean.
Regardless, the loss of White is a welcome sight for the Packers. White tormented Green Bay during his time with Tampa Bay.
Isaiah Rodgers was a potential starter at defensive back for the Eagles, but it appears they'll have to go with youth on the back end.
Tonight's Captains
The Packers are not having permanent captains this season, so they will change from game to game.
Tonight's captains are QB Jordan Love, DL Kenny Clark, and LS Matt Orzech
Right Guard Rotation
According to Matt LaFleur, Jordan Morgan will not start, Sean Rhyan will at right guard.
The situation at guard is going to be fluid.
Morgan looked like the odds on favorite to start at right guard before suffering a shoulder injury that knocked him out of all three exhibition games.
First Drive
Jordan Love converted his first third down of the season on an out route to Romeo Doubs.
An interesting sequence took place shortly thereafter. Jordan Love tried to channel his inner Aaron Rodgers and catch the Eagles with 12 men on the field.
To his credit, he did.
Love found Jayden Reed down the field, and Reed did the rest to score a touchdown.
Unfortunately for the Packers, they also had 12 men on the field, which wiped away the play.
Love's third down pass was incomplete, and a fourth down attempt was thwarted when it appeared Josh Myers did not snap the ball.
Daniel Whelan punted to pin the Eagles inside the 10.
X Gon' Give It To Ya
Xavier McKinney was Green Bay's big offseason acquisition, and he wasted no time welcoming himself to the Packers' defense.
With the Eagles facing a 3rd and 15 deep in his own territory, Jalen Hurts loaded up trying to find Devonta Smith down the middle of the field.
McKinney jumped in front of the route for an interception.
Green Bay's offense would not cash in with a touchdown as a Rasheed Walker holding penalty put them behind the sticks.
Brayden Narveson made his Packers debut, and his short kick was good.
Packers 3 Eagles 0. 8:26 First Quarter
Turnovers Galore
The Packers' defense could not buy a turnover a year ago under Joe Barry.
Through two drives, they're on pace to force a turnover on every possession.
This time, it was a botched snap from new Eagles' center Cam Jurgens and Jalen Hurts.
Devonte Wyatt was on top of the ball at the bottom of the pile to put the Packers in business.
Green Bay's offense continued to shoot itself in the foot with a holding penalty on Tucker Kraft, and a pass interference penalty on Romeo Doubs.
The pass interference proved too much to overcome.
Brayden Narveson made another short field goal as a result.
Packers 6 Eagles 0. 3:01 First Quarter
Eagles Answer
Saquon Barkley has made his mark in Philadelphia.
An 11-play drive that was aided by an offisdes penalty on 4th and 1 to give the Eagles a first down, ended in a touchdown on a wheel route from Hurts to Barkley.
Eagles 7 Packers 6 12:38 Second Quarter
War Daddy
Green Bay has an answer for the first punch they faced tonight.
Emanuel Wilson entered the game for his first action of the season.
He had three carries for 37 yards on the series.
The drive was capped off by a 33-yard run by Jayden Reed on an end around where he broke a tackle on his way to the end zone.
The Packers initially made the extra point, but an offsides penalty on Jalen Carter caused the Packers to change their course and go for two.
A Josh Jacobs run was stuffed, but the Packers still have the lead.
Packers 12 Eagles 7 9:36 Second Quarter
Saquon Scores Again
Saquon Barkley is endearing himself to Eagle fans all over the world with his start tonight.
The Eagles chewed up the field on Green Bay's defense after a big third down conversion from Jalen Hurts to AJ Brown.
Barkley finished off the drive with an 11-yard touchdown run.
