It's Showtime —and Shop Time— for the 'Beetlejuice' Sequel

From a star on the Walk of Fame in front of Hollywood Toy & Costume to a whole "experience" devoted to his latest film, plus a plethora of products and promos tied to the iconic green-haired ghoul with an affinity for stripes, aka the "ghost with the most" Beetlejuice, Tim Burton is having a wickedly good week.
Los Angeles magazine attended the preview party and got to chat with our favorite characters from the original including Miss Argentina (who's sadly, not in the sequel) and the Juice himself.
Taking over the space where the Bob Marley One Love Experience was housed, Afterlife takes guests on an uproariously immersive death journey. From filling out passports and doing interviews with dead clerks about your visit, to a disco-themed "soul train" that leads to "final departure," to a museum-like sandworm environment.
If you're looking for photo ops, there are some good ones: sharing a couch with deathly characters in the waiting room seen in the movie; hanging out with Bob, the shrunken headed zombie and his co-workers in an office scene; and becoming part of the cover of The Handbook for the Recently Deceased. There's even a cafe with Beetlejuice-themed food.
Due to its popularity, Afterlife in association with Fever events, just announced that it's getting extended. It will now run through Nov. 3.
We also saw an early preview of the film thanks to NYX Cosmetics , who just released a huge collaboration with the movie. Bob gets some prominent play on a makeup blender and case, and under eye patches, while the line's lip glosses, eyeliners and pencils reference stripes of all kinds in packaging with bold colors and formulas.
Before the makeup-influencer-packed screening at the Grove, Nyx threw a pre-party at another thematic space Beetlejuice fans should check out: the latest incarnation of Beetle House LA in Hollywood. The horror-inspired venue, which calls itself "a year-round celebration of Halloween" and "a safe place where every goth, punk, freak, weirdo, artist, and visitor is welcomed and celebrated" was created by Zach Neil and opened as a pop-up restaurant in New York around 2016.
The Los Angeles location first opened in 2017 at the space that now houses The Bourbon Room. It moved a few years later to another Hollywood club space and now it's on La Brea and Hollywood Blvd, hosting horror character-driven dinner shows.
Though not officially partnered with the movie or "any one specific film, studio, producer, or television program" as the club's website stresses, it's still a great place for those who fancy dark-themed nightlife, and it makes for the perfect pre or post movie pitstop. They even have a new Beetlejuice inspired menu now thru Sept. 15.
We enjoyed the film while munching out of Handbook for the Recently Deceased popcorn tins, but there's other munchy merch options available depending on what theater you go to. Or forget about stressing over what might be sold out when you get there and just buy online. Check out Cinemark and Regal Theaters for the best designs.
