We love fresh vegetables at our house, and while we have a garden, we can't resist a good farmers market.

Luckily, one of the best in the South is practically in our backyard. Southern Living recently named Charlotte’s Uptown Farmers Market one of the 17 fan-favorite markets in the South.

Located in Charlotte’s Center City, near the NASCAR Hall of Fame, this relatively new market was formed in 2020 as a nonprofit. Its mission? To increase food access and build community connections. In just a few short years, it’s gained national recognition for its fresh, locally grown produce, meats, dairy, and artisan goods.

But there’s more than just fruits and veggies. The market offers health evaluations and nutrition education, too. Plus, you can find locally sourced honey, breads, pastries, and desserts.

    One Google reviewer shared:

It was my first time there. It was fun and interesting. So many different vendors there are selling so many different items. From fresh cut flowers to plants, veggies & fruit, eggs, to frozen meats and bakery items. There was even a food truck there selling plant based foods. My daughter and i arrived there late. We only had one hour to look around. But I loved what I saw. One vendor was selling beautiful mugs. We will definitely go back, but next time, earlier than we did today.

The Uptown Farmers Market covers a sprawling 4.5 acres at First Baptist Church and is open every Saturday through December from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Address: 300 S Davidson St, Charlotte, NC 28202, United States

If you're a fan of supporting local, this is definitely a spot worth visiting!
