Florida Permits Suggest That A FL Winn Dixie Will Be "Sub-Divided" And Made Into A New Aldi Store

    2024-09-07

Ocala residents may or may not be happy to know that a Winn Dixie in their city appears to be on track to become an Aldi. By now, many Floridians are waiting to find out if their local Winn Dixie will become an Aldi. Some want an Aldi. And others are clinging tightly to their local Winn Dixies.

However, Aldi's purchase of 400 Winn Dixie stores last year means that some Floridians won't have a choice about what happens to their Winn Dixie, as some will be converted. And I've written about confirmations of Winn Dixie stores in Panama City, Panama City Beach, Lakeland, Deltona, Pensacola, and Avon Park converting. And now, it appears that Ocala is getting the same treatment.

About The Location In Question And The Confirmation: According to Ocala-News.com, the Winn Dixie at 184 Marion Oaks Boulevard appears to be on track to be subdivided and remodeled into an Aldi.

This Winn Dixie has been reviewed over 1,600 times and earns 4 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. There were some complaints about self-checkout lines. And a reviewer named Laurie wrote:

"The store was bare bones. They didn't have much of anything. The shelves weren't even half-stocked, and the prices were sky-high. Only had self-checkout available but had three employees standing at the self-checkout...This was a huge disappointment!"

The Documents That Suggest A Conversion To A Smaller Aldi: According to a permit submitted in late July of 2024, the building currently occupied by the Winn Dixie will (if permitting is approved) be "sub-divided" and transformed into an Aldi.
