Normal parents. Not smart parents, normal parents, could have prevented this. I've read numerous articles on this family already. The mom has an extensive rap sheet, including numerous drug related charges and felonies. The family was evicted from their home 4 years ago and left their dogs behind. The father was abused as a kid according to a relative and was possibly abusing the wife according to a witness. The mom took off and left the kids with him. Most importantly, after a glaring red flag, a visit from the FBI, the dad thought it was appropriate to treat his kids' issues with a gift of a school shooter starter kit. There was nothing normal happening in this family for years, and they happen to live in a state whose gun laws and red flag laws were literally made for people like this to cultivate a school shooter.

I truly think alot of parents either don't really care about their kids, don't take time to really focus on their kids, or just don't prioritize their kids! There is alot to do during the day, and it is always easier to simply give in to our kids about everything! But sometimes you have to make your kids a priority!
