Slow Cooker Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwiches

Your solution to those busy weekdays. Throw this in your crockpot in the morning and come home to a delicious dinner.

This is an easy recipe that takes just a few minutes to put together but turns out delicious. Serve the pulled pork on buns with barbeque sauce and coleslaw for an easy weeknight meal.

Adding liquid smoke to the crockpot gives the pork a smoked flavor, but it's an entirely optional step.

    Ingredients

    • 4-6 pound pork shoulder or picnic shoulder
    • 1 cup barbecue sauce -- plus more for serving (use your favorite bottle or make your own)
    • 1 cup chicken broth or water
    • 1 to 2 teaspoons liquid smoke (optional)
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • salt and pepper

    Directions

    1. Season the pork on all sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

    2. Spray your slow cooker with cooking oil or use a slow cooker liner.

    3. Place the pork in the slow cooker and add the barbeque sauce and chicken broth (or water). If you are using liquid smoke, stir it in now.

    4. Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours or on high for 6 hours until the pork shreds easily with a fork.

    5. Remove pork and discard the remaining liquid, reserving about 1/4 cup.

    6. Shred pork and return it to the slow cooker with the reserved liquid.

    7. Add additional barbeque sauce or serve it on the side.

    8. Serve pulled pork on buns.
