The US Open men’s final takes place this evening, with Jannik Sinner going up against Taylor Fritz in New York.

The Italian currently sits at the top of the world rankings after a superb season, which began with a first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open , and he is now one win away from joining Carlos Alcaraz in winning two of tennis’ biggest prizes in 2024.

Sinner had controversy to deal with in the build-up to this tournament, after it emerged that he had twice tested positive for a banned substance in March, but he was cleared of any wrongdoing .

Having lifted the trophy in Cincinnati, Sinner has continued that form in New York, reaching the final after battling past plucky British No1 Jack Draper in a bruising semi-final encounter.
