Why's Wife Beefing with Steelers Ex Over Lamar?

    By Mike Fisher,

ESPN analyst Ryan Clark, the former Pittsburgh Steelers standout, is in our experience a rational and fair contributor to that network - an all-too-rare commodity among the screamers and the schemers.

And in our opinion, his comparison of Lamary Jackson to NBA celebrity Russell Westbrook is rational and fair.

Clark, speaking on Friday morning's edition of "Get Up,'' said Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is, essentially, "the Russell Westbrook of the NFL.'' And why?

“Lamar Jackson right now is like Russell Westbrook,” Clark said. “We watch Russell Westbrook throughout the regular season and even in the playoffs have these great statistical games. When he and Dame Lillard went head-to-head, and it got emotional, he couldn't make a shot.

"That’s the difference right now between Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes.''

Given Jackson's overall accomplishments, to those who watch the NBA and the erratic work of Westbrook? This comparison is actually a compliment to Westbrook.

But Westbrook's wife, Nina, who has a habit of ... well, getting involved ... has another view. And she wants in. And now we have a beef.

"My goodness," the overwrought Nina replied. "Just as a basketball fan, we couldn’t even wait for the NBA season to start up before the Russell slander begins?"

    "Slander''? Not exactly.

This isn't Nina's first go-around in this arena as she often interjects herself into public debates about her husband's performances - which, speaking generally, is usually a bad look. ... if only because no player's wife or brother or cousin is going to win an argument on Twitter. (Nobody wins, there, actually.)

    But Nina forges on.

"This doesn’t make any sense," she continued . "The only comparison to be made between Russell and Lamar are that they’re both unicorns and amazing at what they do. ... Before you start hating on Russell, at least let the basketball season start and let him miss a layup or something first. I’m still enjoying the peace and the silence."

Again, social media gives us all the right to an opinion. But Clark is doing his job, professionally, and Clark's opinion is qualified enough to have passed calmly ... making the ruination of "the peace and the silence'' the fault of Mrs. Westbrook herself.
