Good morning everyone. We have a busy day in the Northeast as a strong cold front sweeps on by to give us a very comfortable few days behind it. But first, we need to get through a round of gusty heavy showers and thunderstorms that are currently pushing through central New York and Pennsylvania.

As of now, we don't see any severe weather, but there could be some isolated instances of damaging winds and hail. Wind will be the primary component of this line, and we are expecting a gust front to push through with some heavy showers and/or storms some time time between 3 and 6pm across the New York City Metro Area.

Look for locally damaging winds, some small hail possible, and brief heavy rain. The best chance to see locally severe weather will be in northwest New Jersey, northeast Pennsylvania, and southeast New York.

Behind it, we are looking at widespread upper 60's to low 70's across the region, with some cooler temps across the Adirondacks and down in the Appalachians; where we could see some scattered frost in higher elevation valleys, especially in parts of West Virginia.

Back into the Great Lakes, we have some instability showers that are on the vigorous side, and causing some issues with waterspouts near the Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York shorelines of Lake Erie. Expect this action to continue until sunset, then we are done.

Our main focus remains the tropical moisture locked in across the Southeast and Florida. Scattered to numerous heavy showers and storms are expected across the panhandle of Florida, as well as central Florida and coastal actions of south Florida. We also have some soaking rain and gusty conditions across coastal areas of North Carolina and extreme southeast Virginia.

While we do not have any severe weather at this time, look for the risk of locally severe weather, especially in near-shore areas of Florida. Locally damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and the risk of a few waterspouts, will be on the menu for much of today.

Here is your local NYC Metro forecast -

Clouds and low to mid 70's rule today, with gusty winds developing and the chance of some brief heavy showers and storms late afternoon/early evening. We go windy and cool overnight with lows in the low 50's. Look for some upper 40's possible N&W of New York City.

Sunshine returns tomorrow with a steady NW flow. It'll be on the cool/mild side, with highs in the upper 60's to low 70's. Things modify quickly on Monday, with more sunshine and highs near 80.

Tuesday goes warm, then we are very warm by the end of the week. We'll start off with low 80's Tuesday, mid 80's Wednesday and Thursday, then upper 80's and humid by Friday.
