To keep up to date throughout the game, either keep refreshing the webpage as the game progresses or follow along via Inside the Rebels board live thread.</i></b></p><p>The Rebels entered this week moving up one spot to <a href="https://247sports.com/college/ole-miss/article/ole-miss-football-coaches-poll-ap-poll-ranking-week-2-2024-235606501/">No. 5 in the Coaches Poll</a>, the first time the program has been ranked in the top-5 since September of 2015. <a href="https://247sports.com/college/ole-miss/article/postgame-notebook-ole-miss-76-furman-0-235473687/">Last week</a>, they recorded the highest point total in the Lane Kiffin era and set a school record with 529 passing yards between quarterbacks Jaxson Dart and Austin Simmons. Ole Miss totaled 772 yards last Saturday.</p><p>MTSU enters this matchup 1-0 as well, thanks to a thrilling <a href="https://247sports.com/college/ole-miss/article/ole-miss-middle-tennessee-state-football-2024-first-look-preview-notes-stats-235494407/">32-25 season-opening win over Tennessee Tech</a>.</p><p>This is only the second meeting between these two programs, with Ole Miss winning the one and only meeting in 2001 by a final of 45-17. A 3rd-and-9 scramble by Nicholas Vattiato kept MTSU's opening drive alive to begin the half. Another underneath throw to Holden Willis got MTSU into Ole Miss territory, before finding Myles Butler on a 13-yard rollout to get into Ole Miss' red zone at the 18-yard line. However, it was all for not as John Saunders picked off Vattiato in the end zone to keep MTSU out of the end zone again. Ole Miss took over with 8:09 on the third quarter clock.</p><p>Dart found Caden Prieskorn and Juice Wells to remain perfect passing, before Henry Parrish's 42-yard gain into MTSU's red zone put him over a career-high in single game rushing yards. Parrish left the field with an apparent injury. Matt Jones capped off the drive with a 10-yard score straight up the gut. With six minutes left on the third quarter clock, Ole Miss led 38-3. The Rebels proceeded to get the ball right back, as Vattiato lost control of the football and Tj Dottery fell on it at MTSU's 14-yard line.</p><p>An offensive pass interference set Ole Miss back significantly, back to the MTSU 25-yard line, before Dart found Cayden Lee, who took it to the one-yard line. Parrish proceeded to score on the goal line to extend the lead 45-3 with 3:10 left in the third.</p><p>Vattiato used a few chunk completions to Holden Willis and Kellen Stewart to reach the Ole Miss 11-yard line before the end of the quarter.</p><h2>HALFTIME — Ole Miss 31, MTSU 3</h2><figure><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=26TMZ8_0vOMw5Rs00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=26TMZ8_0vOMw5Rs00" width="620" height="320" ><figcaption>(Photo: John Bowen, 247Sports)</figcaption></figure><p>At the break, Ole Miss out-gained MTSU 362-126 in total yards, with half of MTSU's yards coming on its final drive of the first half, and all but eight coming through the air.</p><p>Jaxson Dart was a perfect 15-for-15 passing for 223 yards, with 88 of those yards coming from Tre Harris on seven catches. Cayden Lee, Antwane Wells, Caden Prieskorn and Jordan Watkins combined for the rest of the passing production. On the ground, Henry Parrish had 12 carries for 122 yards and tied a career-high three touchdowns.</p><p>Defensively, the Rebels surrendered right at four yards a play on average, 10 yards per passing completion. TJ Dottery led the wya with five tackles (three solo), while Trey Washington and Khari Coleman combining for nine stops. Ole Miss had five TFLs from five different players.</p><h2>2ND QUARTER — Ole Miss 31, MTSU 3</h2><figure><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=2d2jIz_0vOMw5Rs00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2d2jIz_0vOMw5Rs00" width="620" height="320" ><figcaption>(Photo: John Bowen, 247Sports)</figcaption></figure><p>When play resumed, MTSU made its way into Ole Miss territory with a slip out receiver screen, but Louis Moore broke up a pass across the middle to force yet another punt. Ole Miss took over on its own 20. Dart found Jordan Watkins for his first reception of the season to get to midfield. On a linebacker blitz, Jaxson Dart was sacked and stripped of the football, but the ball was recovered by his own teammates.</p><p>Dart got all that back with a few competitions en route to the red zone, and then after his first passing option on the goal line was covered, he improvised and found the end zone from three yards out. With 10:52 on the second quarter clock, Ole Miss led 24-0.</p><p>Nicholas Vattiato found Cam'ron Lacy across the middle for a 21-yard pickup to get to midfield, but after offsetting penalties near midfield, pressure from Princely Umanmielen and Zxavian Harris forced another punt. However, Ole Miss took over in the shadow of its own goal post, with the ball going out of bounds at the one-yard line with 7:21 on the clock.</p><p>In just three plays, Ole Miss went from inside the one to midfield after another carry from Parrish and Dart passes to Tre Harris and Juice Wells. The Rebels continued to move the ball effortlessly toward the red zone. Henry Parrish proceeded to tie a career-high with his third rushing touchdown on the play from there-yards out, capping off an 11-play, 99-yard drive. With 3:07 left in the half, Ole Miss led 31-0.</p><p>After being gifted a first down due to pass interference, Nicolas Vattiato had a 66-yard TD pass to Omari Kelly between five defenders wiped off the scoreboard due to an offensive holding, trying to block Walter Nolen. A 21-yard pass was short of the first down, forcing 4th-and-4 near midfield. Vattiato found Hayes Sutton, who stretched just far enough to move the chains near midfield. Vattiato proceeded to find Holden Willis wide open across the middle for a gain of 29 yards. MTSU called timeout with 34 seconds left in the half. MTSU's kick went out of bounds and Ole Miss started on its own 35-yard line.</p><p>The Rebels rode Henry Parrish's legs to quickly get into Blue Raiders' red zone with four consecutive carries. Ole Miss faced a 3rd-and-15 after a few shaky plays and a Jaxson Dart pass to Caden Prieskorn out in the flat was short on the first down. Caden Davis put Ole Miss on the board first with a 33-yard field goal to make it a 3-0 game with 11:30 on the first quarter clock. MTSU proceeded to go in reverse on its opening drive as the Rebels forced a three-and-out, taking over at their own 45 shortly after.</p><p>After a few chunk passes from Dart to Tre Harris, the Rebels quickly made their way to the red zone, ending the 55-yard drive with Henry Parrish's first TD of the season. With 8:22 left in the first, Ole Miss led 10-0. After two drives, Parrish had 81 yards on six carries. The Rebels forced yet another three-and-out, with Pegues blowing up the line of scrimmage to force a punt. Ole Miss took over at its own 40-yard line.</p><p>Dart fed Tre Harris multiple times to get into Blue Raider territory, and then Caden Prieskorn to set up another 11-yard score by Henry Parrish. Ole Miss led 17-0 with 2:10 left in the quarter.
