The good news is that Green Bay Packers star QB Jordan Love didn't suffer an ACL tear Friday night against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil. The bad news is he sustained an MCL sprain.

That type of injury, depending on grade, can take anywhere between one week and more than six weeks to heal, per the Cleveland Clinic .

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the news via X on Saturday morning, September 7.

"#Packers QB Jordan Love, who went down with a lower leg injury late in his team's loss to the #Eagles in Brazil, had tests on his knee today that revealed an MCL sprain, source said," Rapoport wrote . "No ACL damage."

The Packers must now decide what to do under center, with Malik Willis currently in the backup position and second-year player Sean Clifford stashed on the practice squad.

Green Bay traded for Willis just 12 days ago, while Clifford struggled enough during the preseason to lose his roster spot.

The clearest option is veteran free agent Ryan Tannehill , who has 12 years of NFL experience and a career record of 81-70 to go along with three years of playoff experience, including a run to the AFC Championship Game with the Tennessee Titans in 2019.

The Packers could also explore several trade options with various teams around the league.
