Gators Dockside, a family-friendly sports bar at 4982 New Broad St in Orlando, Florida, needed to rectify 10 violations during a recent Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation inspection.

The Orange County establishment, known for its American fare and signature grilled chicken wings, maintains a 4.1-star rating from 1,692 Google reviews and a 3.1-star rating on Yelp.

This is What Happened During The Inspection

The August 29, 2024, inspection revealed three high-priority, one intermediate, and seven basic violations. While the restaurant wasn't ordered to close, a follow-up inspection was required.

The initial inspection revealed a range of issues, including unsuitable food storage practices, temperature control violations, and cleanliness concerns.

However, Gators Dockside was able to successfully address five of these violations during the follow-up inspection on August 30, meeting inspection standards and demonstrating a commitment to improving its health and safety standards.

Other Standing Violations: The most notable high-priority infraction involved temperature control for safe food. Inspectors found various items, including cooked onions, peppers, noodles, and meats, held at temperatures above 41°F. This led to a "stop-sale" order on these items.

Other violations included missing ceiling tiles, damaged cutting boards, and unsuitable storage of employee personal items. The restaurant also had issues with plumbing and light shield maintenance.

On a positive note, several violations were corrected on-site during the inspection.

Lexi B, a Yelp Elite member, praised the restaurant's appetizers, drinks, and service and recommended it as an excellent spot for watching sports.

"Gators Dockside is the perfect place to watch some sports, grab a cheap beer and have some appetizers. The entree food not super stellar but then again what sports bar is? Come for the appetizers (fried pickles, fried cauliflower, wings) and a drink and you won't be disappointed! The service is always super great and prompt!"

    Key Violations:

    • High Priority:
      • Time/temperature control violations for cold food
      • Stop Sale issued due to temperature abuse
    • Intermediate:
      • Required employee training expired
    • Basic:
      • Ceiling tile missing
      • Cutting board not cleanable
      • Employee personal items stored in food preparation area
      • Light shield damaged
      • Nonfood-contact surface soiled
      • Plumbing system in disrepair
      • Wiping cloth cleaning solution stored on the floor
