Golden Retrievers never fail to entertain. These charismatic pups have personalities for days, and even their shenanigans can be worthy of comedy awards. For two Goldens named Doug and Russell, play time means serious business—the business of fun—and they're getting right down to it.

On September 4, 2024, a cute video was shared showing the funny ways the two Golden brothers play, and it's so on-point for Goldens everywhere. Watch their hilarious methods!

"I present to you the crazy way my dogs play," the video begins as Doug and Russell stand together in the yard waiting for their signal before excitedly romping about. The first move they do is called "The Jump Scare," and it's the two of them jumping at each other in a roughhousing way. They seem to get a kick out of this one—literally.

Next comes "The Standoff." One of them carries a toy in his mouth while the other sits perfectly still in a contest of wits. Whoever moves first loses! "The Smash" is really just Doug planting his body onto little Russell and rolling over while Russell tries to escape.

"The Baby Shark" shows Russell getting his revenge as he lays on top of Doug and playfully nips at him. Doug nips back and that's what makes it fun! And finally, "Follow the Leader," which is exactly as it sounds!

This duo is taking play time to a whole other level and the internet is loving it.

"Love the standoff," one person wrote. "Adorable," another said, while another simply replied, "Mine play the same way, lol."

How Much Exercise Do Golden Retrievers Need?

Doug and Russell don't need to count their daily exercise minutes because, by the looks of it, they're getting plenty! The Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida says, generally speaking, Golden Retrievers need 20-30 minutes of hard, consistent exercise twice a day in order to maintain their calm, friendly dispositions. Younger pups need more because, obviously, they have a lot of energy!

Because this breed was originally bred as a working sport dog who needed to endure rigid hunting schedules and routines, they're built for movement. A home with a fenced yard is helpful, so they have the space to run and romp to their heart's content. Whether they choose to do The Smash, The Jump Scare, or Follow the Leader, Golden Retrievers like Doug and Russell will wear themselves out having fun—and that's a good thing.
