Four families were displaced Saturday after a fire damaged two homes in East Orange. No one was injured. Fire officials said everyone was out of the home when they arrived. The call came in around 4:30 p.m. from Glenwood Avenue. Officials said the three-alarm fire took about two hours to knock down. “We came across some water concerns, but we adapted, improvised and overcame those,” said East Orange Fire Chief Bruce Davis. “We were able to keep everybody safe and sound.” The Red Cross is assisting the affected families. The cause of the fire was not immediately known. "

Regentrification has infiltrated East Orange as well as surrounding towns close to NJTransit Rail lines and suddenly there is this MYSTERIOUS UPTICK in house and building fires!! In my 64 years of life this town has NEVER seen a rash of fires like it has in the last two years since all of this (sic) "LUXURY" construction has taken place. It's beginning to seem like the South Bronx in the 1970s when Jewish and Italian landlords were systematically TORCHING their properties to 'cash in'!!! Time to have a sit down with our Mayor!!!
