After authorities, friends, and family launched an extensive search in Portland, Oregon, cops confirmed they had found the 32-year-old’s body , though no further details were given.

Jubane’s neighbor, Bryce Johnathan Schubert, 27, has since been arrested and charged with her murder, according to the Beaverton Police Department.

Now, the nurse’s family is clinging to “cherished memories” as they grieve her loss.

Jubane’s cousin Jax Marquez took to Facebook to share a montage of happy moments from a wedding Jubane attended in 2022.

“A cherished memory of my dear sweet beautiful cousin Melissa Jubane,” the post read.

“Please pray for our family during this time.”

The attached video played out to the song Cherishing Memories of You as images from the wedding day were shared.

Jubane can be seen beaming and holding a bouquet as she stood alongside members of her family as official photographs were being taken.

Other images showed moments from the wedding reception where the nurse and fellow guests crowded into a photo booth for celebratory pictures.

Family and friends were pictured raising their glasses and messing around with props.

Another segment showed a quiet moment between Jubane and her then-boyfriend as they shared a drink together.

As the reel came to an end, Jubane was captured smiling as she danced the night away.

Since posting the video, the nurse’s cousin has shared a GoFundMe page that has been set up to raise money for her family during this time.

In the description, organizer Josephine Anne Castillo confirmed the news of Jubane’s death in what she called “a senseless act of violence.”

Statement from the Beaverton Police Department

On September 4, 2024, at approximately 10:18 AM, the Beaverton Police Department received a welfare check request for 32-year-old Melissa Jubane of Beaverton. Melissa, a nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in SW Portland, had not reported for her morning shift, raising concerns among her coworkers, friends, and family.

Beaverton Police officers responded to Melissa’s residence at 1050 SW 160th Avenue, in Beaverton. Upon arrival, officers were met by staff from the apartment complex and conducted a search of Melissa’s apartment. Melissa was not present, and her absence without communication was deemed unusual and alarming.

Efforts by officers and family members to contact Melissa throughout the day were unsuccessful, as her phone appeared to be turned off. Additionally, searches of Melissa’s bank and credit card records yielded no new information regarding her location.

At 3:12 PM on September 4th, Melissa was entered into national law enforcement databases as a missing person.

As a result of an extensive investigation, it was determined that one of Melissa’s neighbors, 27-year-old Bryce Johnathan Schubert of Beaverton was involved in her disappearance. Subsequently, Schubert was arrested this evening and charged with Melissa’s murder. Melissa Jubane’s remains have been recovered.

This is an active investigation. While we acknowledge the significant community interest and concern, we must withhold further details to preserve the integrity of the investigation. Tips related to this case are still welcome. Please call 503.526.2280 to provide information.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the community members who have assisted with the search for Melissa. Our deepest condolences go out to Melissa’s family, friends and coworkers.

“Melissa was not only a loving daughter, friend, and community member, but also a dedicated nurse who cared deeply for her family, friends, and patients,” Castillo wrote.

“She touched countless lives with her kindness, compassion, and selflessness.”

“Melissa’s family is not only grieving an unimaginable loss, but they are also facing the unexpected financial burden of funeral costs, legal fees and other family expenses at this time,” she added.

In less than 24 hours, the page has raised over $52,600 from its $50,000 target.

    JUBANE’S DISAPPEARANCE

Jubane’s colleagues sounded the alarm on September 4 after the nurse failed to turn up for her morning shift.

Cops revealed that this was incredibly out of character and due to the lack of communication between the nurse and the hospital, her disappearance was immediately “deemed unusual and alarming.”

After searching her home and launching a thorough investigation, it was discovered that Jubane’s mobile had been switched off and that she had not recently used her credit card.

She had only returned to Oregon from Honolulu, Hawaii where her wedding took place on September 1.

The nurse also had Labor Day off work but turned up for her shift on Tuesday before failing to do so on Wednesday, according to Fox affiliate KHON-TV .

Jubane’s husband had returned to Washington where he is stationed on active duty in the military.

He had last heard from his wife around 6 am on the day she failed to turn up to work.

Cops later revealed that Jubane’s neighbor Schubert was found to have been involved in her disappearance and was arrested on September 7 and charged with second-degree murder.

The 27-year-old had worked as a nurse at Providence Portland Medical Center between September 2022 and October 2023, a spokesperson for Providence confirmed to CBS affiliate KOIN .

However, he never worked at the St. Vincent Medical Center where Jubane was employed.

At this time, it is not known when Schubert will face a judge or whether he has a lawyer.
