Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is still without a contract. As the dawn rises on the NFL season, time is ticking - in regard to the parties' "self-imposed deadline'' - for something to get done.

In a new interview with Pro Football Hall of Famer and three-time Super Bowl quarterback of the Cowboys Troy Aikman, Prescott affirmed that he’s not taking personally contract talks with Dallas owner Jerry Jones and COO Stephen Jones.

He also said that none of this is personal ... it’s just business.

“It just reminds me that this is a business,” Prescott said. “And I don’t take anything personal, to be honest with you. I control what I can and that’s being the best that I can on that field and leaving it up to my agent and to the Jones’ and getting the deal done.

“Obviously I’ve played a part in it, a lot of great communications, but to me it’s about taking care of my job and my part, and it’s showing up every day and being the best version of myself and continuing to improve to make sure that I’m worth every dollar of it.”

Prescott smiled when talking about Jones' public style, calling him a "mad scientist'' in terms of the marketing of "America's Team.'' And he said his relationship with the Joneses is good and "growing.''

And in addition to "it’s just business,'' Dak said, "I love this team.''

The Cowboys kickoff their season in Cleveland on Sunday afternoon on the FOX NFL Game of the Week. It will also be the debut of seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady’s broadcasting debut.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:25 p.m. CT.
