Over the past several months, there have been weed recalls in several different states, with warnings issued to marijuana consumers. The most recent recall impacting Alamogordo and the state of New Mexico as reported by AlamogordoTownNews.org was issued by the New Mexico State Cannabis Control Division which identified a cannabis flower that tested positive for a prohibited pesticide.

The New Mexico Cannabis Control Division (CCD) has issued a consumer health and safety advisory after identifying contaminated cannabis flower (bud/shake/trim) that tested positive for a prohibited pesticide.

Many in the cannabis industry believed that recalls were unlikely to happen to them since the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and many health departments do not actively regulate them. However, this is a dangerous misconception. All companies, whether in the food or cannabis industry are exposed to potential recalls and the number of recain the cannabis industry is increasing.

Recalls have happened in a number of states from New York and California to now include New Mexico.

On March 22, the Cannabis Control Division (CCD) of the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department announced a recall for several cannabis concentrate products sold at the Got Greens dispensary, following the discovery that they were contaminated with a pesticide.

"The concentrates were sold under the names Purple Kush Live Sugar, Cali Dream Live Sugar, Jigglers Live Diamonds, and OG Kush Shatter. The recall also affects the cannabis manufacturer, Pharmers, who has been instructed to destroy all remaining involved concentrates without selling to any additional retailer," the announcement said, noting that the products were sold between January 31, 2023, and February 15, 2024.
