As the Buffalo Bills enter the 2024 season with a completely new-look wide receiver group, one of their old weapons is doing some damage in his new home.

Former Bills star Stefon Diggs this week was named a captain for the Houston Texans. ... and that was just the start of his good start in NFL Week 1.

In a 29-27 win, Diggs recorded six catches for just 33 yards ... but for two touchdowns while hooking up with QB CJ Stroud. ... and yes, his performance made the captaincy seem right.

This is not the first time that Diggs has earned this honor, of course, as he was named a Bills captain in each of the three previous years. While being a captain does not actually make a difference on the field, it does symbolize a player's leadership in the locker room.

Diggs will now be a captain for his first year in Houston after he was traded by Buffalo in the offseason. The Bills sent Diggs, along with a fifth-round pick and a sixth-round pick, to Houston in exchange for a second-round pick in 2025.

Despite a successful four years in Buffalo, where he was selected to four Pro Bowls and led the NFL in both receptions and receiving yards in 2020, the Bills decided to move on from Diggs in the offseason as his production began to drop and his relationship with the team seemed to worsen.

Now, Diggs will look to compete for a championship with a Houston team led by sophomore quarterback CJ Stroud. Diggs will also have the chance to face his old team when the Bills play the Texans on Oct. 6.
