There were not many negatives for the New Orleans Saints in Week 1. They defeated the Carolina Panthers, 47-10, to open the regular season. They did, however, deal with a few new injuries.

The most notable exit was for Marshon Lattimore in the third quarter. During the game, it was reported by the broadcast that it was just a precautionary move with the Saints' star cornerback.

Foster Moreau left the game with a concussion. Willie Gay Jr. also went to the locker room after getting banged up.

Marshon Lattimore Week 1 injury update

Dennis Allen said that Lattimore is dealing with something with his hamstring. There is an injury there, at the least. Clearly, there was a bit more to the decision to pull him than just caution for him.

That being said, Lattimore gave fans a sigh of relief after the game, too. He told Luke Johnson that he's "good".

Hopefully, that is the case for the former Pro Bowl CB. The Saints are at their best with him on the field for their defense.

Regardless, the Saints secondary dazzled on Sunday. Alontae Taylor became the first Saints cornerback to record three sacks in a game. Tyrann Mathieu forced and recovered a fumble. Will Harris got an interception.

They fired on all cylinders without Lattimore having a major impact in Week 1. That sort of play needs to continue if New Orleans wants to return to the postseason.
