Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady isn’t quite as proficient in his new career as he was his last.

Many likely expected Brady to have at least some growing pains as he transitioned to life as a full-time NFL broadcaster for Fox’s No. 1 announce team, and as everyone saw during Sunday’s matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns, he’s still learning the ropes.

But there was one moment during Brady’s national broadcast debut when the Cowboys thought about letting kicker Brandon Aubrey attempt a 71-yard field goal that caught the attention of NFL RedZone’s Scott Hanson, and he didn’t hesitate to call out the three-time league MVP.

“Oh come on, Brady’s got to get more excited than that in the booth,” Hanson exclaimed.

Aubrey drilled a 66-yard field goal moments before but it was negated by a false-start penalty. Dallas backed up five yards and lined up as if it was going to let the 29-year-old kicker attempt what would be an NFL record-long kick.

Play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt found great amusement at the prospect of the Cowboys possibly letting Aubrey attempt to kick nearly three-fourths the length of the field, bellowing “this is crazy.”

However, Brady kept his normally stoic demeanor and acted as if he was about to watch another ho-hum fourth-and-long punt.

Brady was famous throughout his NFL career for his rigorous study of his game film. It would behoove him to take the same approach to his broadcasting career.
